Today we talk with Evanda Estes, a wife and mom of a 2 year
old who started a non-profit organization without pryor knowledge
of how to do so. Her organization, Revelator International,
started in 2016 and now takes care of 10 boys in Haiti.
She tells us all about the journey of always knowing she
wanted to do missional work and how the idea and need for Revelator
came about.
How she fully immersed herself in the culture, including
learning the language and originally trying to meet organizations
to help. She tells us how impractical a lot of US mission trips are
and why they don't always have the local people's best interests at
heart.
Hear about what came from the first time she witnessed
corruption of other organization's first hand and why just throwing
money at a problem doesn't help.
She tells us what it's like to ask for money when you feel
uncomfortable doing so and how attitude and approach are so vital
in non-profit work.
Hear the amazing stories of how she's changing these 10 boys
lives in every way imaginable including reuniting them with family
members and teaching them how to dream!
We asked her about traveling to a third world country by
herself and while pregnant, and why she insisted she wouldn't let
becoming a mom change this part of a life. We bet you'll never
guess how many times her two year old has been to Haiti so
far!!!
Evanda has a lot of amazing words of wisdom about what to do
when you feel overwhelmed and how to keep going in those
times.
"Go today and do
it."
